Oklahoma City… that is where Jay moved to Dallas from and that is where we are headed this weekend. I hear there is some pretty good Salsa dancing on Saturday nights at a place called IDance. I will keep you posted and let you know how it was.

An amazing instructor and personal friend of my, Sarah Knudson is holding authentic Cuban-style Salsa and
Rueda de casino. Sarah has lived in nearly every major city that has a Salsa scene and specializes in Afro-Cuban Salsa and Guaguancó . She actually liven in Cuba for some time to perfect her style.

Classes will be every Tuesday for the month of May (5th, 12th, 19th, 26th) from 7-8pm.

This workshop is going to cover the basics of cuban-style Salsa, Rueda & men’s and women’s styling. It is an excellent workshop for dancers of all skill levels and is sure to challenge everyone who attends. Both novice and advanced dancers are welcome, this workshop is going to be a blast!

The cost will be $10 per class or $35 for the month. Ask about student discounts .

Classes start Tuesday May, 5 2009 and they need a minimum of 7 people to continue the workshop for the month.

This is an excerpt from my friend Maritza Rodrigez with the Latin Dance Association at the University Of Oklahoma aka OU. This event is going to be huge! If you can make it to this party if you can because the mix of people at this event includes students, locals and dancers from just about every country that does Salsa. This is a great opportunity to see how many different styles of Salsa there and how cool they all are. I really enjoy dancing with all the peeps at OU, they are very friendly and they are all terrific dancers.

Spice up your life with an evening of beauty, culture, music and dance at the University of Oklahoma’s First International Salsa Ball, featuring live music by Carabali, a Dallas-based Salsa and Merengue Band, and special dance performances by Lee Rios of San Antonio, the ball promises to entertain seasoned Salsa lovers and non-dancers alike.

The event culminates efforts over the last 8 month by the university’s Latin Dance Club to expose students and the community to the colorful, vibrant art of Latin dance.

The ball will be 9:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., Friday, April 10, in the Oklahoma Memorial Union’s Molly Shi Boren Ballroom located at 900 Asp Ave. Norman, Oklahoma on the University of Oklahoma Campus.
