It’s that time again, my friends at “OK Salsa Fever” are gearing up for their monthly Salsa Dance Social this Saturday at The Oklahoma City Swing Dance Club in Oklahoma City, OK. I really love going to this monthly social when I am in town because the dance floor is HUGE and all the people are really awesome- So if you are in the area, you should really check it out

Cover is $5 – OKCSDC members $10 – non members and the price  includes:
 Basic Latin dance lesson 8-9pm (Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Cha Cha Cha
Snacks & soft drinks are provided and it BYOB if your 21+ 
They will be having Salsa and Rueda demonstrations this weekend so be sure to make it out this Saturday. It will be lots of fun!

As always, there will be awesome door prizes, FREE parking and a great smoke-free non-competitive atmosphere.

A good friend of Elizabeth and mine runs a bad ass Salsa scene on Saturday Nights in North Dallas. It’s a hotest new dance spot in the metroplex and if you haven’t made it out there, you need to give it a try!

The place is called ROCC Lounge, it’s an Asian Fusion Restaurant by day and a hot and spicy Salsa Club by night. Rumba Dallas (a promotion and DJ company in the area) puts on the party. They play all kinds of latin dance music starting at 10pm and the floor isn’t bad. The best part of all is there in NO COVER! Anytime you can go out Salsa Dancing for free in the Dallas Area is a plus!  The people are fun to hang with and the DJ is a personal friend of mine so check it out on the weekends if you are looking for a new place to go dance that is less crowded than the mainstream

Oklahoma City… that is where Jay moved to Dallas from and that is where we are headed this weekend. I hear there is some pretty good Salsa dancing on Saturday nights at a place called IDance. I will keep you posted and let you know how it was.

I ran across this web site and as I was looking through it, realized this is the type of Salsa community that every city would be blessed to have. They are organized with a lot of clear activities, they have community service aspect with Salsa for the Kids and Salsa Prom, they are a connector for all the relevant activities in Vancouver for Salsa dancers. They are an information only site but they take great care of their constituents.

As many of you know I am very interested in other cultures. I love to travel and have been to many different countries. I honestly feel more at home abroad than I do here in Dallas.

In light of that I came across the web site of a Salsa dancer in Hong Kong. I was surprise to find that her web site and what they did was similar to what we have here in Dallas, Texas USA! The only real difference was instead of Latinos dancing it was Asians.

(Just as a side note because I find it a little strange. I live in the middle of Dallas and there is a white kid walking on a residential street outside my window wearing a black and yellow Asian outfit… hmmm curious)

The Salsa dancing looks the same, the venues look the same. It just goes to show you that Salsa and dancing transends culture and is a unifying force in the world.

The world famous Los Angeles World Salsa Congress is rapidly approaching. If you haven’t already got you passes to this event, you had better jump on them ASAP. With it only being 3 weeks away, you had better take action soon- There are going to be a lot of great workshops and even better bands and performances this year. It is being held at the Radisson Hotel right by LAX this year, they still have space available if you want to stay there, but HURRY!! The events starts Thursday May 21 and will run until Sunday May-24. There will be a pre party held Wednesday night at one of the local clubs but the location has yet to be disclosed. Come out and show off your Red Hot SALSA moves at the OKC Swing Dance Club this Saturday! They have the BIGGEST wood dance floor in the STATE!!! This is a no smoking establishment with free parking, lots of space and some of the best dancers around. So last month’s Paper Moon Salsa Social was HUGE!! There was tons of money given away in the Salsa Competition! A big WHOOP goes out to all that attended the event and they look forward to having you there again next month. 

There is a really cool Salsa Social tomorrow, April 18th in Merrimack, NH starting at 7pm!

My good friend, World Salsa Champion Qualifier Vera Rowe is hosting an awesome Salsa dance social this Saturday at The Paper Moon Dance Center located at 515 Daniel Webster Highway in Merrimack, New Hampshire.

I highly recommend making it out to this social tomorrow night if you are in the area, Vera is and amazing instructor and dancer and she would love to see you all there. They all get together every third saturday of the month and have a blast out there so if you can check it out! 

They are having Salsa Workshops that start at 7pm, followed by the dance social that starts at 9pm. They are giving away TONS of cash prizes, over $700 total in cash including $150 going to the top couple in the novice/beginners Jack and Jill competition. There will also be an intermediate/semi-pro competition so everyone will be dancing against people on their skill levels. Come out and hang out with the pros in the hottest party in New Hampshire!
